(Fort McMurray, AB, September 26, 2022) – Thanks to the support of marathon participants, community partners, and volunteers, the 2022 Fort McMurray Marathon celebrated another successful year with over 650 participants and over $74,000 raised by marathon day for local non-profit organizations through the new “Run for a Reason” program.
Since 2012, runners from Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo and beyond have participated in the annual Fort McMurray Marathon at the end of September. This year, the Fort McMurray Marathon added a new element with the Run for a Reason program. The new program allows registered charitable organizations to sign up as fundraising beneficiaries while marathon participants have the opportunity to raise funds for their favourite registered charity. Marathon participants raised $74,000 by the marathon event date on September 25, but the program remains open for donations until October 16, 2022. Those interested in donating can visit www.fortmcurraymarathon.ca to learn more about the program.
