Time is running out for 2019 Fort McMurray Marathon general registration

Race day is just around the corner and now is the time to register; Fort McMurray Marathon general registration is closing August 31 with late registration opening September 1.

Runners have the option to register for one of six race distances, including the ATB Financial Marathon (42.2km), ATB Financial Half Marathon (21.1km), ATB Financial 10km, Noral Toyota 5km, Inter Pipeline 3km and the Inter Pipeline Kid’s Fun Run.

The Organizing Committee is also looking for volunteers for a variety of roles including the Race Team Crew and Island Crew. For more information on volunteer opportunities visit fortmcmurraymarathon.ca/volunteer.

All runners are invited to the Fort McMurray Marathon Runner’s Social on Saturday, September 14. Enjoy a healthy pre-race dinner, meet fellow runners, pick up race packages and ask pre-race questions. The Runner’s Social is $15 for race participants and $20 for guests of race participants.

Lace-up, Let’s Train! Fort McMurray Marathon launches route maps

(Fort McMurray, AB – May 23, 2019) – The Fort McMurray Marathon organizing committee is pleased to announce the launch of the 2019 race route.  These highly anticipated maps can now be found online at FortMcMurrayMarathon.ca, participants are encouraged to incorporate them into their training plans for this year’s race which takes place on Sunday, September 15. The Fort McMurray Marathon is a partnership between the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) and the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC).

“Runners can now go online and map their race routes, challenge themselves on the course and use these tools to prepare for the big day,” says Kelsey Stefanizyn, Fort McMurray Marathon Chair. “This route was highly regarded last year, with the scenic beauty of our trail systems as a backdrop we can’t wait to see runners out again this year!”

Runners have the option to register for one of six race distances, including the ATB Financial Marathon (42.2km), ATB Financial Half Marathon (21.1km), ATB Financial 10km, 5km, 3km and the Inter Pipeline Kid’s Fun Run. Early Bird Registration is open until 10 p.m. on Friday, May 24.

Registration Kicks Off for The Fort McMurray Marathon

The Fort McMurray Marathon Organizing Committee is thrilled to announce that Early Bird Registration for the 2019 Fort McMurray Marathon launches April 24, 2019, at 10 a.m. The annual event is a partnership between the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRCWB) and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB).

This year, Fort McMurray’s largest annual running event will bring a crowd of athletes, spectators and partners together to celebrate community, personal achievement and fun at MacDonald Island Park on Sunday September 15th.

“Moving into our seventh year, we look forward to hosting runners from right here in our region, as well as across the province and country,” says Kelsey Stefanizyn, Fort McMurray Marathon Chair. “This Marathon was designed with our local runners in mind and we are so happy it turned into a yearly staple for so many people looking to pursue their running goals and to challenge themselves on a really great course.”

Over the past six years, this race has become a landmark event for the region with a growing base of dedicated runners inspiring others to push their limits, reach their goals and try something new. Runners will have the option to register for one of six race distances, including the ATB Financial Marathon (42.2km), ATB Financial Half Marathon (21.1km), ATB Financial 10km, 5km, 3km and the Inter Pipeline Kid’s Fun Run.  With increasing participation year-over-year, early registration is encouraged to reserve your spot.

Back by popular demand registration for the Fort McMurray Marathon Fit-to-Run program will launch May 6, 2019. This FREE program will facilitate short or long-distance coaching and will consist of 12 or 16-week training plans with the support of an industry professional. Space is limited, stay tuned for updates.
